General Cleaning

There is a Cleaning Schedule on the wall of the cleaning cupboard in the church and a Tidy Up After Sunday Mass schedule in the porch for volunteers who help on the Tidy Up rota.

Four teams of parishioners are employed on a 4-weekly rota basis to clean and polish the Church, including the Sanctuary, Lady Chapel and Sacristy. The work includes the use of an electric floor-polisher and vacuum cleaner.

Volunteers are always needed (men and women) to join the rota; volunteers who would be willing to be included on a reserve list to cover for periods of absence of the main team members would also be welcome. The efforts of the cleaners are supported by the regular maintenance mornings (see below).

Brass Cleaning

Cleaning of the brass in the church is done once a fortnight, usually on a Thursday, and takes about 1¼ hours. There are at present 6 teams of 2 people whose turn comes round about once every two months. Volunteers are always welcome.

Maintenance

Over the past 3 years our large maintenance projects have included: Lady Chapel ceiling, Stations of the Cross re-vamp, Sacristy refurbishment, replacing central heating in church and hall boiler, roof repairs and small roofs/ceiling replacements, window repairs and replacement in hall and presbytery, church lighting options, investigating extending CCTV,  Book shop refurbishment.....

There have also been several small projects.

We aim to meet bi-monthly  to check Lighting, Locks, Drains and attend to incldental repairs (usually highlighted by parishioners). This event is open to all parishioners as, in addition, we support the Gardening and Cleaning teams.
